Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer (Part-Time) to provide technical leadership and QA/QC oversight for transportation projects across Illinois, with flexibility for hybrid/remote work from Chicago, Lisle, Peoria, or Springfield offices.

The role requires a PE license, 15+ years in traffic engineering and strong knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, and ADA standards. The position emphasizes independent work, mentoring, and contributing to public-sector transportation

Competenze

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic engineering, roadway design, or related projects.
Experience reviewing deliverables for technical accuracy and compliance.
Strong knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, ADA, IDOT, and local standards.
Experience conducting/ reviewing traffic operations analyses and safety evaluations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Mansioni

Lead QA/QC reviews for traffic engineering, roadway design, planning, and intersection projects.
Review plans, calculations, reports, specifications, cost estimates for accuracy and compliance.
Evaluate traffic operations analyses, safety studies, and intersection design recommendations.
Review roadway geometry, including alignments, layouts, and multimodal accommodations.
Verify compliance with federal, state, and local requirements (MUTCD, AASHTO, ADA).
Identify design risks and provide practical solutions; mentor staff and teams.
Support project managers in maintaining quality throughout development and delivery.
Participate in technical reviews, workshops, and lessons learned sessions.
Assist with proposals, technical approaches, staffing, and client presentations.
