Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Traffic Engineer to act as the Traffic expert while supervising lower-level Engineers or Engineering Technicians. The role involves design, review, and improvement of traffic control devices, signals, signing, and roadway geometry for Louisiana projects.

This position supports safe and efficient transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting analyses, and assisting with traffic

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Louisiana Professional Engineer license.
• Two years of licensed engineering experience or six years of professional engineering experience.
• Master's degree can substitute for up to one year of experience; doctorate up to two years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises lower-level engineers, engineers interns, engineering technicians, and/or other staff.
• Designs and submits signal plans for construction projects and reviews plans, specs, estimates, and calculations.
• Provides guidance on traffic control devices, traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, and work zones.
