Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a Traffic Operations Director to lead the Traffic Operations Division, spanning Tolling Operations, TMCs, ITS, and Traffic Services. You’ll set strategy, supervise programs, and ensure alignment with state goals while maintaining rigorous budgeting and governance.

Qualifications include a current Louisiana Professional Engineer license, supervisory experience, and advanced engineering credentials.

Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering is required with two years of supervisory level experience or 4 years licensed engineering experience (substitutions outlined).
Licenses from other states may be accepted with Louisiana license before appointment.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategic Alignment: Provides Department-wide leadership for the Traffic Operations Division.
Oversight and Program Management: Directs and oversees Division programs, services and activities.
Performance Management and Analytics: Implements governance structures and performance management frameworks.
Financial Stewardship and Resource Management: Oversees Division budget planning and financial management.
