Job summary

TYPSA, Inc. in Irvine, California seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead roadway design activities on state and municipal projects with a focus on delivering high-quality technical design deliverables.

The successful candidate will manage a design squad, coordinate with disciplines, perform traffic analyses, prepare reports, and contribute to business development while meeting budgets and schedules. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of design experience.
• PE registration in the job jurisdiction or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• California T.E. and/or PTOE certification is a plus.
• Local State and Municipality project experience.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Experience with traffic modeling software: Synchro, HCS, Vissim; AGI32 for lighting.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D and OpenRoads is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic design for state and municipal transportation projects.
• Coordinate with team members and other disciplines.
• Design TH/MOT, signing & marking, signals, lighting, ITS; prepare construction plans.
• Conduct traffic analysis, safety audits, TIS, signal timing and design.
• Generate clear technical reports with findings and recommendations.
• Read and interpret engineering plans, specs, and reports.
• Prepare and check plans, calculations, and cost estimates.
• Create project work plans to manage budgets and design teams.
• Participate in inter-disciplinary quality reviews and design checks.
• Support proposals and business development for transportation projects.
• Ensure work completes within budgets and schedules; liaise with agencies.
