Job summary

HWC Engineering in Indianapolis seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead traffic analysis, corridor studies, and complex modeling. You will guide project planning, budgets, and team performance while mentoring junior engineers. Experience in transportation engineering, PE/EIT credentials, and CAD tools are preferred to drive high-quality outcomes for public and private sector clients.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of transportation and/or traffic engineering experience.
• BS in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
• PE license expected, EIT required.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uses senior-level technical expertise for traffic analysis, corridor studies, and traffic modeling.
• Leads project planning, staffing, schedule adherence, and budget management.
• Supports marketing efforts, including proposal generation.
• Develops scopes of work and manages scope and budget during delivery.
• Ensures accuracy of the project team's work within the discipline.
• Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Coordinates project aspects with clients and teaming partners.
• Plans schedules and workload distribution across disciplines on complex projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Traffic Group Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL DO…

• Uses senior-level technical expertise to consider a broad range of engineering solutions relating to traffic analysis, corridor studies and complex/non-complex traffic modeling.
• Responsible for discipline-specific planning, work distribution, leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or traffic engineering projects.
• Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
• Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget during project delivery process.
• Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline.
• Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
• Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client and teaming partners.
• Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projects
• Performs other duties as assigned by Traffic Group Manager.

WHAT YOU NEED:
