Job summary

Metric Geo in Atlanta is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead a major GDOT signal operations project. The role focuses on timing plans, design, and field verification for traffic signals.

You will conduct traffic studies using VISSIM/Synchro-equivalent tools, apply ATMS principles, and deliver technical reports on schedule and within budget. GA PE license or eligibility is required with 10–15+ years of experience.

Job description

I am looking for a Senior Traffic engineer to lead a major project in Atlanta.

This will be the primary contact on a large GDOT signal operations project.

Key Responsibilities

• Traffic Signal Retiming: Lead projects related to signal retiming, including the development, implementation, and optimization of timing plans for coordinated and isolated systems.
• Design: Create plans and specifications for traffic signal systems, isolated signals, intersection improvements, and signing and marking projects.
• Traffic Studies & Analysis: Conduct traffic studies and operational analysis using VISSIM, Synchro, and other tools to assess traffic flow and signal operations.
• Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS): Apply systems engineering principles for the development and deployment of signal and other ATMS.
• Field Work: Perform field verifications of existing and proposed traffic control devices and make recommendations for improvements.
• Technical Reports & Client Delivery: Prepare traffic engineering reports, conceptual designs, and technical deliverables, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.

Qualifications

• GA Professional Engineering (PE) license or able to obtain in 3 - 6 months
• 10 - 15 + years of progressively responsible traffic operations experience, with a specific focus on traffic signal retiming.
• Experience with MicroStation and GDOT guidelines or equivalent.
