Virginia Department of Transportation seeks an engineering professional to provide technical guidance, prepare analyses, and manage transportation projects from concept through design. You will design traffic control devices, review plans, and coordinate with VDOT staff, local agencies, consultants, and FHWA to ensure compliance with state and federal standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, training, and effective communication while delivering accurate results within budgets and schedules.

Formación

• Ability to interpret and use construction plans, MUTCD, VA Supplement to MUTCD.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize multiple assignments within set timeframes.
• Ability to train and evaluate the work of others.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices related to traffic control devices.
• Knowledge of project development process, policies, guidelines, or regulations related to traffic control devices and ITS elements.
• Skilled in MS office software and use of traffic eng design programs.

Responsabilidades

• Provide engineering guidance and training on assigned program areas and manage projects to ensure timely completion.
• Communicate with VDOT staff, local government, consultants and the public about transportation projects.
• Design and review traffic control device plans using iPM, PCES, and related tools.
• Oversee and train team members while applying quality control throughout plan development.
• Coordinate with consultants and internal staff to ensure compliance with state and federal standards.
