The role involves handling domestic and international trademark matters, prosecution, enforcement, and related IP work, with collaboration across partners and a sophisticated client base.

The candidate should have 5+ years of substantive trademark experience, a JD, and Illinois bar admission or eligibility to waive in, along with strong writing and client-communication

Qualifications

• 5+ years of substantive trademark experience at a law firm or in-house.
• Admission to the Illinois bar (or eligibility to waive in).
• Experience with international trademark portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of domestic and international trademark matters.
• Develop and execute prosecution strategies, including overcoming refusals.
• Perform trademark clearance searches and assessments.
• Assess copyrightability and prosecute copyright applications.
• Advise clients on brand launches and enforcement strategies.
• Prepare and advise on commercial agreements related to intellectual property.
• Handle enforcement matters, including TTAB proceedings and federal court cases.
• Collaborate with international counsel on cross-border trademark strategies.
• Mentor associates and paralegals within the practice group.
