Job summary

RailWorks in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking a Superintendent to plan, supervise, and coordinate track construction, inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.

You will lead field crews, ensure safety and quality, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate with project teams to meet objectives. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and knowledge of FTSS/FRWS standards, with a focus on safe, economical labor use.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of track construction/maintenance with at least 4 in supervisory roles.
• Knowledge of FTSS and FRWS; able to qualify for Part 213.7 of FTSS.
• Ability to supervise staff and clearly communicate instructions to staff.
• Familiar with railroad rules, regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, and coordinate construction/maintenance activities ensuring safe, cost effective, and high-quality performance.
• Manage inspection schedules and preventive maintenance for track systems and equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Assist in policy development for track/structures maintenance and inspection.
• Evaluate efficiency of crews, adherence to work plans and budgets, and safety to meet project objectives.
• Investigate track failures and safety issues and apply timely corrective actions.
• Recommend improvements in work methods to correct maintenance deficiencies.
• Direct and supervise track workers per plans and priorities.
• Advise on policy/procedures for safety and operational effectiveness.
• Enforce company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct safety audits and meetings.
• Provide technical support to track workers.
• Prepare and present reports to the project team.
• Train and supervise staff.
