Qualifications

Game Path is working with a major AAA console developer based in the US actively seeking a ++Senior Tools Engineer++to join their growing team on a new unannounced project.

The role is ++permanent++ and ++fully remote++ within the US.

As a Senior Tools Engineer you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining a suite of tools that empower our development teams to create exceptional gaming experiences efficiently. You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, artists, and producers to understand workflow requirements and develop tools that streamline processes and enhance productivity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, a passion for gaming, and a proven track record of delivering high‑quality tools for game development.

++Responsibilities++:

  • Design, develop, and maintain editor tools, plugins, and workflows in Unreal Engine (C++ and Blueprint).
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to gather requirements, identify workflow inefficiencies, and propose solutions to improve productivity and creativity.
  • Architect scalable and maintainable systems that integrate seamlessly into existing development pipelines and workflows.
  • Optimize tools performance and usability through iterative design, testing, and feedback loops.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continually enhance our tools and processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth and development of the engineering team.

++Requirements++:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 3 years focused on tools development.
  • Must have professional experience within a game development team
  • Expert‑level knowledge of Unreal Engine (UE4 and/or UE5), including editor extension, asset pipelines, and plugin architecture
  • Strong proficiency in C++; experience with Python, C#, or Blueprint scripting is a plus
  • Deep understanding of console development constraints (memory, CPU/GPU, certification requirements) for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Switch.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Passion for gaming and a desire to contribute to the creation of immersive gaming experiences.
