Job summary

Lydech Thermal Acoustic Solutions (TAS) is seeking a seasoned Hands-on Engineer to lead tooling engineering efforts, guide new tool designs, and provide technical direction to repair staff. The role focuses on improving profitability and efficiency across value streams with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.

The candidate will drive OEE improvements, participate in design reviews, and manage capital equipment projects while ensuring safety and adherence to manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4 year technical degree (Tool and Die) or equivalent journeyman experience.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in metal stamping.
• Strong skills in crash form, draw die, and progressive/transfer design and development.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of various die tooling.
• Ability to critique die design concepts for production readiness and maintainability.
• Experience evaluating customer concerns and performing trouble-shooting.
• Extensive experience with high tonnage metal stamping presses (Mechanical and Hydraulic).
• 5+ years of experience in an Automotive Manufacturing environment with multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction to tooling engineers and tool/die repair staff.
• Guide new tool designs and support operations to resolve manufacturing issues, reduce scrap, and drive continuous improvements.
• Participate in tool design reviews and support product launches for smooth manufacturing transitions.
• Oversee equipment purchases, justify capital expenditures, and specify equipment to standardize manufacturing methods and safety.
• Assist project engineering in developing new tool designs and manage process development, timing, budget, setup, debug and training.
• Support APQP, DFMEA, and PPAP activities as required.
• Prioritize tooling improvements and repairs; contribute to Lean Six Sigma programs.
