Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to lead the design and optimization of tooling for advanced CMC turbine components. This role is onsite in Carlsbad, CA, and requires strong CAD and GD&T skills along with a manufacturing background.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive automation initiatives, and mentor junior engineers to advance tooling capabilities. The position offers opportunities to shape process improvements and contribute to next-generation aerospace tooling

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, CATIA, Creo, or SolidWorks.
• In-depth knowledge of GD&T principles and applying complex tolerancing to designs.
• U.S. citizenship is required to access information for this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling for all processes used to manufacture CMC turbine components.
• Establish and follow best design practices for tooling dimensions, tolerances, and work holding.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to design solutions supporting process development.
• Support tooling readiness activities and TPM practices to improve OEE and reduce costs.
• Lead data collection and analysis related to tooling performance and durability.
• Mentor junior engineers to grow technical capabilities.
