Job summary

United Pharma in Phoenix, AZ seeks a senior Tooling Engineering Lead to own performance, reliability, and availability of production tooling in a regulated manufacturing environment. You will lead troubleshooting, manage spare parts, and mentor tooling engineers and mold makers to maintain operational readiness in a cleanroom setting.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain tooling documentation and repair guidelines, drive continuous improvement for uptime and quality,

Qualifications

• Tooling leadership, reliability, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshooting and resolution of tooling-related production issues.
• Injection molding processes and mold refurbishment or replacement.
• GD&T tolerancing and detailed drawing creation.
• Machining and fabrication methods, including milling, turning, grinding, and eroding.
• Experience in regulated GMP or GLP environments.
• Lean manufacturing and design for manufacturability.
• Project execution with limited supervision.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze data, make independent judgments, manage competing priorities, and collaborate across business functions.

Responsibilities

• Manage tooling spare parts and lead troubleshooting and resolution of tooling-related production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support stable manufacturing operations.
• Mentor Tooling Engineers and Mold Makers and provide technical guidance to team members and leadership.
• Maintain tooling documentation, standards, and repair guidelines.
• Support tooling repairs, refurbishments, component replacements, and the validation and ramp-up of new or refurbished molds.
• Drive continuous improvement focused on tooling reliability, uptime, and quality.
• Oversee tooling lifecycle health, including wear tracking, refurbishment planning, and end-of-life decisions.
• Participate in new product development design reviews to help prevent mold design and functional issues.
• Work with commercial teams and customers on tooling evaluations and major-repair financials.
• Travel up to 10%, or up to 26 business days per year.
• Work within an ISO 7 cleanroom and complete required gowning procedures.
