Job summary

TRIAD Engineering Corp is seeking a hands-on Tool Room Manager to lead molding and tool room operations, partnering with skilled mold makers to solve tooling challenges and support new builds.

You will drive continuous improvement, mentor mold personnel, and ensure high tooling reliability while aligning with Lean principles across manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on mold making, tool and die, or injection molding tooling experience.
• Experience building, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining injection molds.
• Prior supervisory, management, or mentoring experience within a tool room or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of mold construction, mold maintenance, and tooling systems.
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with CNC machining, EDM, milling, grinding, turning, and precision machining processes.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily tool room activities supporting production and NPD.
• Establish schedules to align production demands and customer requirements.
• Ensure tooling documentation, maintenance records, and work orders are accurately kept.
• Troubleshoot critical production and tooling issues on the floor as needed.
• Coach, train, and develop mold makers and technical personnel.
• Participate in mold design reviews and DFM discussions.
• Support tooling activities for new product introductions and launches.
• Evaluate and manage external tooling suppliers, including timelines and costs.
• Ensure mold validation, qualification, and production release activities.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Manufacturing teams.
• Lead initiatives on scrap reduction, downtime minimization, and tooling reliability.
• Develop and implement best practices for mold maintenance and tool room operations.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing throughout the department.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in injection mold construction, repair, and maintenance, combined with the leadership skills needed to build a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Tool Room Operations

• Manage daily tool room activities supporting both production and new product development (NPD).
• Establish schedules to align production demands and customer requirements.
• Ensure that tooling documentation, maintenance records, and work orders are accurately kept.
• Troubleshoot critical production and tooling issues on the floor as needed.
• Coach, train, and develop mold makers and technical personnel.

New Tool Development

• Participate in mold design reviews and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) discussions.
• Support tooling activities associated with new product introductions (NPI) and product launches.
• Evaluate, qualify, and manage external tooling suppliers, including timelines, costs, and performance.
• Ensure successful mold validation, qualification, and production release activities.
• Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Manufacturing teams.
• Lead initiatives focused on scrap reduction, downtime minimization, OEE improvement, and tooling reliability.
• Develop and implement best practices for mold maintenance and tool room operations.
• Promote Lean Manufacturing principles throughout the department.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with hands-on mold making, tool and die, or injection molding tooling experience.
