Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Sunnyvale, CA, is seeking a Principal Tooling Design Engineer to lead tooling concepts through fabrication. You will design detailed 3D CAD models (NX preferred) and production drawings, develop fabrication requirements, and support production with issue resolution to meet schedule and quality targets.

Ideal candidates hold a STEM degree with DMF experience, strong GD&T and root-cause analysis skills, and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in STEM with 5+ years in DMF; master's with 3 years preferred.
• Experience in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting from 3D models.
• US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Capture requirements with internal customers and project teams.
• Develop tooling concepts, feasibility studies and cost analyses.
• Create 3D CAD models (NX preferred) and 2D drawings; specify fit and function.
• Develop fabrication requirements and procurement specs to guide production.
• Provide hands-on support during fabrication and perform first-article inspections.
• Troubleshoot fabrication issues to maintain quality and schedule.
• Document design revisions and routing through the Tooling Configuration Control Analyst.
