Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Tool and Die Maker Journeyperson for on-site work in Michigan. Duties include maintaining and repairing mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial equipment, reading blueprints, and operating CNC machine tools.

Candidates must meet GM's rigorous hiring process and be eligible to work in the United States. The role requires flexibility to work day, afternoon, or night shifts with overtime as needed, and may involve relocation considerations per policy.

Qualifications

• Six years of related experience in a mechanical trade or a U.S. DOL Certificate of Completion in a mechanical trade.
• Must pass GM hiring process including comprehensive assessments, drug test and background check.
• Must be 18+ and eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical/hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, assemble, fabricate, maintain piping systems.
• Use hand or power tools to measure, cut, thread, bend, solder, assemble pipes and fittings.
• Read and interpret blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation systems.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and other mobile equipment.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and grinders to shape parts.
• Fabricate tools and fixtures to exact specs.
• Plan operation sequences from blueprints or models.
• Verify finished part dimensions and tolerances with gauges and micrometers.
