Job summary

General Motors is seeking qualified Die Maker Journeypersons to build, repair, remodel, and maintain all types of dies using various materials. The role emphasizes safety, blueprint reading, and precise fabrication and repair work in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Six years of die making experience or a U.S. Department of Labor certificate.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform die repair/fabrication.
• Comfort operating mills, lathes, grinders and hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA and GM safety procedures.
• Fabricate or repair dies for production, including welding.
• Read blueprints to guide repair/fabrication of dies.
• Perform die repair with mills, lathes and grinders.
• Make in-press repairs of dies/tooling.
• Conduct die tryouts as required.
• Use calipers, gauge blocks and micrometers to measure dies.
