Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (Toolmakers) to work with minimal supervision on a shift-based schedule, with opportunities across maintenance, fabrication, and automation tasks. Candidates should have extensive experience in mechanical trades or hold a Toolmaker credential, plus strong familiarity with robotics, automation, and CNC tooling.

Qualifications

• Requires six years in a Mechanical trade or U.S. DOL Toolmaker certificate.
• Must pass GM hiring process including assessments and background checks.
• Must be 18+ and eligible to work in the United States.
• Willing to work flexible shifts, including nights and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA and GM safety procedures.
• Maintain, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, assemble, and repair piping systems.
• Use hand and power tools to install pipes, valves, and fittings.
• Read blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation systems.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and other mobile equipment.
• Set up CNC lathes, mills, and grinders to fabricate parts.
• Plan operations for fabricating tools or assemblies from blueprints.
