Job summary

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade is seeking a Senior Health Educator to lead tobacco prevention efforts and coordinate SWAT activities countywide. The role involves working with schools, community groups, and youth to prevent initiation and promote cessation, under supervision of the Health Education Program Manager.

You will recruit and support SWAT Advisors, maintain clubs, train youth, collect data, and help develop policy and outreach campaigns across the county.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle.
• Must be tobacco-free and not use electronic nicotine delivery systems.
• Experience organizing large educational or community events and public speaking.
• Ability to work with school districts, community stakeholders and youth.
• Strong data collection and analysis to support program outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, coordinate, and provide tobacco prevention and education activities in Miami‑Dade County.
• Coordinate SWAT activities, recruit advisors, maintain clubs and youth empowerment.
• Ensure SWAT advisor compliance and timely quarterly deliverables and payments.
• Develop youth trainings, plan events, and empower SWAT participants.
• Collect and analyze data; submit quarterly progress reports in ATACS.
• Promote quitline and cessation services; collaborate on media campaigns.
• Represent the program on local committees and assist with policy efforts.
