Job summary

Renesas Electronics Corporation in Columbia, MD seeks a hands-on Senior Edge AI Applications Engineer to build and deploy edge AI solutions in a physical lab. You will prototype sensor rigs, collect real-world data, and deploy TinyML on Renesas silicon, working with microcontrollers such as ARM Cortex-M and Renesas RA/RX/RL78.

You will write embedded C/C++ firmware, perform DSP, and guide junior engineers while collaborating with customers and product teams to deliver working hardware solutions.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of hands-on embedded software and hardware prototyping.
• Experience in DSP and real-time edge computing with microcontrollers.
• Ability to deploy quantized TinyML models on bare-metal or RTOS platforms.
• Proficient in C/C++ for constrained MCUs and debugging with lab tools.

Responsibilities

• Physical prototyping and fabrication of sensor rigs and microelectronic setups.
• Instrument high-frequency time-series data from industrial hardware and devices.
• Develop DSP feature extraction pipelines and deploy TinyML on MCUs.
• Write real-time C/C++ firmware with DMA, SPI/I2C/UART/CAN drivers.
• Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software.
• Mentor junior engineers and document engineering practices.
