Job summary

TrendAI, the global AI security leader and enterprise unit of Trend Micro, seeks a Principal Threat Architect to research AI-era threats and to design durable detection-and-response capabilities that underpin our platform for the next several years. This senior individual-contributor role spans threat research, systems architecture, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years in cybersecurity with threat detection and response expertise.
• Proven track record delivering complex tech systems from concept to production.
• Hands-on experience architecting scalable security systems.
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and AI security (MITRE ATT&CK).
• Proficiency in Python or another production language.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Threat and technology research across the AI-era threat landscape and defensive strategy.
• Design new threat operational architecture: scalable detection-and-response systems.
• Prototype and validate defensive approaches; converge research into concrete specs.
• Bridge research to production with detection engineering, data science, and platform teams.
• Provide principal-level technical leadership on core design decisions and trade-offs.
• Communicate complex research and architectural direction to technical and non-technical audiences.
