Job summary

Trend Micro seeks a mid-level Threat Detection & Response Engineer to research AI-era threats and develop detection capabilities. You will work with architects and researchers to turn research into production-ready solutions, collaborating across threat intelligence, detection engineering, and AI/ML teams.

The role provides growth toward senior and principal threat architecture, with opportunities to prototype and implement new defensive approaches in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years in cybersecurity, software engineering, or a related field with threat detection/response experience.
• Experience building or contributing to production systems.
• Familiarity with security tooling and operational workflows and how they integrate.
• Basic familiarity with AI/ML concepts and MITRE ATT&CK framework.
• Proficiency in Python or another programming language.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Threat and technology research to investigate AI-era threats and inform team.
• Design, build, test, and refine detection-and-response capabilities integrated with existing tooling.
• Prototype and evaluate new defensive approaches and document specifications.
• Collaborate with threat intelligence, data science, and platform teams to move prototypes toward production.
• Communicate research findings clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
