Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Senior Thermofluids Systems Engineer, Power Conversion to own system‑level thermodynamic modeling of the power conversion architecture. You will define operating points, set boundary conditions, and serve as the bridge to control systems engineering and reactor modeling teams.

The role requires 5+ years in thermodynamic/power cycle modeling, proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink/Python, and on‑site work at the El Segundo HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or Systems Engineering.
• 5+ years of thermodynamic/power cycle modeling, systems engineering, or performance engineering.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics as applied to power generation.

Responsibilities

• Own system‑level thermodynamic performance modeling of the power conversion architecture, including design and off‑design operating points across startup, shutdown, transients, and off‑nominal conditions.
• Develop and maintain interface requirements and boundary conditions for fluid system components, pressure equipment, turbomachinery, and power electronics.
• Work with engineers owning hardware and subsystems to develop architectural changes accommodating nominal and off‑nominal operation, balancing performance, cost, weight, schedule, and safety.
• Serve as the primary interface to control systems engineering, providing plant‑level dynamic behavior models and control‑relevant boundary conditions.
• Build and maintain performance models (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Simulink) for fluid system behavior across all operating states.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for cycle performance anomalies and inform hardware teams.
• Perform or review trade studies to optimize cycle and fluid system architecture.
