Job summary

Antares is seeking a Thermo-Mechanical Engineer II to own the thermal management of the Power Conversion System in Torrance, CA. You will analyze heat transfer, size thermal hardware, and ensure performance margins for high‑temperature environments.

You will collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, and Nuclear teams, develop heat rejection architectures, drive instrumentation placement, and use test data to improve component life and reliability across the PCS and reactor systems.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Nuclear, or related engineering field.
  • 2+ years of full-cycle engineering experience (Engineer II).
  • Experience performing thermal analysis (hand calculations, FEA, CFD) to size or qualify hardware.
  • Experience designing thermal management hardware for high-temperature systems.
  • Experience sizing or integrating heat exchangers or heat rejection paths under real conditions.
  • Experience correlating thermal predictions with test data and updating designs.

Responsibilities

  • Own thermal management and energy budget of the Power Conversion System.
  • Develop heat rejection and cold-sink architecture and integrate the recuperator.
  • Define thermal configuration including insulation, budgets, surface temps, and protection.
  • Manage thermal interfaces and transient requirements across PCS, reactor, and safety systems.
  • Support test rigs and instrumentation placement; use data to improve life and performance.
  • Design components for high-temperature service using advanced materials.
  • Develop inspection and maintenance plans for life-limited hardware.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, and Nuclear teams to meet goals.
