Job summary

Vertiv Corporation in Westerville, OH is seeking a Thermodynamic Engineer to own the thermal management design lifecycle for engineered-to-order data center chillers. You will prepare technical and cost proposals, perform thermodynamic calculations, select components, and ensure designs meet customer and company standards.

This onsite role collaborates with mechanical and electrical teams within the SFA/ETO group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent with thermodynamics background.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration principles, especially for data center cooling.
• Ability to analyze customer requests and develop customized engineered-to-order solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform quotation and cost evaluation for customer-requested modifications to the standard product.
• Design and optimize chillers' main components for data centers with focus on thermodynamic performance and energy efficiency.
• Collaborate with Application Engineers to understand customer requirements and propose cost- and performance-balanced solutions.
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams for implementation of approved special units.
• Ensure design solutions meet quality, reliability, cost, and delivery time standards.
• Review and approve technical documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, BOMs).
• Manage multiple projects, balancing special development with production support.
