Mainspring Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to optimize reaction control using physics-based models and modern algorithms. You will work on thermodynamic cycles with a focus on reliability, power, and efficiency, collaborating across a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires strong engine control and thermodynamics intuition, with experience in MIL/SIL/PIL testing, and a track record of implementing robust control strategies for dynamic systems.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of experience designing, implementing, and testing algorithms in thermodynamic machines; engines a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement models, algorithms, and MIL/SIL/PIL tests in C++.
• Develop fuel, air, compression ratio, and cooling control strategies.
• Design, run, and analyze experiments using Python on generators.
• Collaborate with other controls engineers on designs and architectures.
• Debug sensors, actuators, and subsystems; communicate algorithms via block diagrams or code.
• Analyze complex thermodynamic-mechatronic systems with experimental data and models.
• Support reliability and manufacturing testing of systems.
• Analyze data to inform requirements and design decisions.
• Support fleet generator operation to enhance reliability and performance.
