Job summary

Prometheus Energetics is seeking an experienced Thermal Systems Engineer to own TPS design, material selection, and ablative nozzle components across the motor lifecycle. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will drive TPS concepts from initial material characterization to high-rate production.

The role emphasizes 4–10 years in aerothermal or high-temperature materials, proficiency with Thermal Desktop, SINDA/FLUINT, ANSYS, or Abaqus, and hands-on testing and analysis in collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials or closely related field.
• 4–6 years of TPS/thermal protection systems experience; 7–10+ for senior role.
• Proficiency with transient thermal analysis tools and high-temperature materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead TPS design, sizing, and qualification for SRM assemblies.
• Develop and maintain thermal models (1D/2D/3D) and run trade studies.
• Plan and evaluate subscale tests and correlate with data.
• Collaborate with test facilities, manufacturing, and other engineers.
• Provide design verification vectors and qualification plans.
