Job summary

Prometheus Energetics, a Kratos/Rafael joint venture, seeks a Thermal Systems Engineer to own TPS design, modeling, and testing for solid rocket motor applications. You will drive material selection, thermal analysis, and post-fire evaluation, ensuring compatibility with motor cases and real-world production constraints.

The role requires hands-on testing experience, strong modeling skills, and the ability to translate aerospace thermal environments into robust analysis frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Materials or related field.
• 4–6 years in TPS/thermal analysis for propulsion, 7–10+ for senior role.
• Proficiency with industry tools for transient thermal analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, sizing, and qualification of TPS for solid rocket motors.
• Evaluate high-temperature materials including elastomeric, carbon-phenolic, silica-phenolic.
• Define mechanical, adhesive, and chemical compatibility for TPS integration.
• Evaluate material response phenomena and heat soak in burn and post-burn phases.
• Support scalable manufacturing processes to move designs to high-rate production.
