Job summary

RTX is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Analyst in Goleta, CA to perform thermal and structural analyses for complex hardware. You will use FEM tools to evaluate stress, stiffness, fatigue and thermoelastic behavior, supporting the full program lifecycle from design to delivery.

The role emphasizes data-driven risk assessment, collaboration with internal teams, and occasional travel to partner sites to support program activities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with relevant experience.
• Experience performing structural/thermal analyses and evaluating results.
• Familiarity with FEM tools (NASTRAN/Patran, ANSYS) and data-driven risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Perform static, dynamic, and thermoelastic analyses for hardware designs.
• Support program phases from proposal through build/test and failure analysis.
• Develop FEMs from scratch and provide hand calculations for cross-checks.
• Travel to government or partner facilities as needed.
