Job summary

Leidos Defense is seeking a Lead Thermal/Stress Analyst in Huntsville, AL to design and analyze next-generation defense systems. You will perform stress and thermal analyses, develop FEM/SFEA models, and ensure designs meet rigorous requirements.

Daily use of STAR-CCM+ and FEMAP/Nastran will be essential while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Applicants should have a Mechanical or Aerospace ABET-accredited degree, 4+ years of relevant experience (or 2+ with a master), and U.S.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Final Secret Clearance.
• Residency in or relocation to Huntsville, AL.
• 4+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 2+ years with a master’s degree.
• Direct experience performing stress and thermal analysis in aerospace/defense.
• Proficiency with commercial FEA tools including FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS, or Abaqus.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress and thermal analysis on structural, electronic, and mechanical systems.
• Use analytical methods, FE models, and simulations to produce results and correlate data.
• Conduct detailed steady-state and transient thermal analyses with industry tools.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to meet performance and schedule requirements.
• Support testing activities and work with cross-functional teams in an in-office role with flexible scheduling.
