Job summary

Leidos Defense in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Lead Thermal/Stress Analyst to design and analyze next‑gen defense systems. You will perform stress and thermal analysis on structural, electronic, and mechanical components, using FEMAP/NX NASTRAN and STAR-CCM+ to ensure designs meet stringent requirements.

You will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams, produce and verify models, and support critical test activities.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience with bachelor’s degree (2+ years with master’s).
• Direct experience performing stress and thermal analysis in aerospace/defense.
• Proficiency with FEMAP/NX NASTRAN, PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN, ANSYS or Abaqus.
• Knowledge of STAR-CCM+/Thermal Desktop/SindaFluent, ANSYS, or SolidWorks FlowSimulation.
• Strong writing, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team or work independently.
• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for Final Secret Clearance.
• Residence in Huntsville, AL or willingness to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress and thermal analysis on structural, electronic, and mechanical systems while supporting critical test activities.
• Produce models, perform calculations, reduce data, and correlate results to ensure accuracy.
• Conduct thermal analyses using industry-standard tools and validate against test data.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to meet performance, manufacturability, and schedule requirements.
• This is an in-office role with limited remote work.
