Job summary

AES Corporation in the United States is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to lead the design and engineering of thermal power generation projects, managing third parties and EPC contractors across development, construction and operation.

You will mentor engineers, support startup and commissioning, and drive innovation while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. The role offers flexible locations (AES US Renewables & Power offices or remote) and travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering (mechanical preferred) or equivalent technical field.
• 10+ years professional experience in energy system design, project or land development, and/or construction.
• 5+ years of experience in project management, consulting, or as a project engineer.
• Engineering design experience with thermal power generation facilities and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare contract exhibits and support RFI's during EPC negotiations.
• Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors through development of drawings and materials.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate feedback from internal SMEs.
