Job summary

AES is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer - Thermal Projects to lead mechanical design and technical oversight for gas turbine, HRSG, steam turbine, and corresponding balance-of-plant systems across development, construction, and operation phases.

The role requires deep experience in thermal generation, strong leadership, and proven ability to mentor engineers while coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams worldwide. Travel to sites and vendor facilities will be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
• 10+ years in mechanical engineering for power generation.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs and vendor documents.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and project leadership.
• EIT or PE qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for thermal power generation projects.
• Review and oversee design criteria, calculations, specs, and data sheets.
• Coordinate interfaces across civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and operations.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence across the team.
• Support procurement through technical bid evaluations and FATs.
• Ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on projects.
