Job summary

AES Corporation seeks an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design and execution of thermal power projects across development, construction, and operations. You will oversee third‑party engineering, perform design reviews, and guide procurement and commissioning activities.

The role requires deep knowledge of gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and balance‑of‑plant systems, with strong communication and mentoring skills to support a distributed team.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in power generation, oil and gas, industrial, or major capital projects.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, piping specs, layouts, and vendor docs.
• Experience with thermal power generation facilities including gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and support engineering for gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, fuel-gas and cooling systems.
• Prepare design criteria, calculations, drawings, specs, data sheets, and cost estimates.
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, and other disciplines.
• Review vendor and EPC work for compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Support procurement through technical bid evaluations and FATs; provide field engineering support.
