Job summary

The AES Corporation seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership for thermal power projects across development, construction, and operation. You will oversee mechanical design, review third-party engineering, and ensure high-quality execution while mentoring engineers and guiding project teams.

Ideal candidates bring deep experience with gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and balance-of-plant systems, plus strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in power, oil and gas, or major capital projects.
• Experience with gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and resolve complex issues.
• Knowledge of thermal power plant codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and support engineering for gas and steam turbines, HRSGs, and related systems.
• Prepare design criteria, calculations, drawings, data sheets, and technical reports.
• Coordinate interfaces with civil, electrical, and environmental disciplines.
• Review vendor work products for compliance with project requirements.
• Provide field engineering support and commissioning assistance.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical evaluations of new technologies.
• Support safety and quality initiatives across projects.
