Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in the Greater Seattle Area is seeking a Sr. Thermal/Fluids Engineer to lead thermal and fluid analyses for cryocoolers used in zero-boiloff applications, and to support heat exchanger design within the Lunar Permanence team.

You will collaborate across the ZBO/Lunar teams in design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of cryocoolers and thermal management systems. The role requires mentoring early-career analysts, strong data interpretation, and ownership of complex

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, aerospace, or aeronautical engineering.
• 7+ years’ experience with thermal/fluid system design, development, and analysis.
• Experience in heat exchanger design, analysis, and/or test.
• Strong command of heat transfer and fluid flow fundamentals.
• Demonstrated thermal/Fluid FEA/CFD using Ansys, Thermal Desktop, or similar software.
• Data-reduction and analysis experience.
• Strong written and interpersonal skills.
• Desire to take ownership of projects.
• Strong personal commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Direct and conduct component- and system-level thermal/fluid analyses and trade studies for cryocooler and heat exchanger designs.
• Communicate analytical results and effects of design changes on performance.
• Review and interpret test data to anchor models and assess health.
• Lead execution and reporting of design, analysis, and technical scope reviews.
• Provide peer reviews for analyses and designs.
• Lead and mentor junior thermal/fluid analysts.
• Create work plans and report progress to leads.
