Job summary
Blue Origin seeks a Thermal Analyst III in the Greater Seattle Area to lead thermal design of engine components from concept through fabrication and service. You will optimize cooling and lubrication flows, perform FE analyses, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure robust performance across duty cycles.
The role emphasizes applying first principles in heat transfer, managing complex thermal models, and documenting results for manufacturing release.
Qualifications
- Theoretical and applied thermal knowledge with first-principles understanding.
- Hands-on experience with thermal design of rotating and static hardware.
- Experience with numerical/FEA tools for thermal analysis.
- Ability to model cooling and lubrication flows for engines.
Responsibilities
- Lead thermal design and analysis of rotating and static components from concept through fabrication and service.
- Perform optimization studies to size cooling and lubrication systems.
- Carry out hand calculations and FE analyses to assess thermal state and heat rejection.
- Collaborate across disciplines to improve design performance and durability.
- Document analyses to support engineering drawings and release.
- Develop automation tools for model creation and report generation.
- Support test planning and data collection to validate solutions.
