Job summary

CesiumAstro, Inc. seeks a Senior Thermal Engineer to lead thermal design for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems in a startup environment.

You will design, analyze, and validate thermal control systems from concept through testing, collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to optimize solutions. The role requires 12+ years in thermal/mechanical design, BS in Engineering, proficiency with ANSYS or Thermal Desktop and SolidWorks, and strong communication skills for customer

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Mechanical, Thermal, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or institution.
• 12 years of industry experience in thermal/mechanical design and analysis; MS may count as 2 years.
• Expertise in electronics/PCBA, box, and system-level thermal design and analysis.
• Experience designing radiative, conductive and convective heat transfer for various applications.
• Experience building thermal resistance networks and reduced order models.
• Experience correlating thermal models with chamber/TVAC test results.
• Experience developing analysis automation tools (spreadsheet or script-based).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for thermal control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and validate thermal control systems for Cesium’s products.
• Lead thermal designs from concept through requirements, detailed design, and testing.
• Present engineering design review materials to customers and upper management.
• Contribute to proposal-writing efforts.
