Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Thermal Engineer to design, analyze, and validate thermal control systems for spacecraft and airborne platforms. You will lead thermal designs from concept through qualification, collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers on an integrated team to deliver optimized solutions.

The role requires extensive experience with electronics cooling, radiative/convective/conductive heat transfer, and model validation against TVAC test results.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Mechanical, Thermal, or Aerospace Engineering.
• 12 years of industry experience in thermal/mechanical design and analysis.
• Expertise in electronics/PCBA and system-level thermal design.
• Proficiency in ANSYS or Thermal Desktop; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience with radiative, conductive, and convective heat transfer.
• Experience building thermal resistance networks and reduced order models.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes for thermal control systems.
• Experience correlating thermal models with test results.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis, and validation of thermal control systems from concept to qualification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical and mechanical engineers.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and upper management.
• Contribute to proposal writing and technical documentation.
