Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Staff Thermal Engineer to design, analyze, and validate thermal control systems for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems. You will work with electrical and mechanical engineers in a cross-functional team to develop optimized solutions from concept through testing.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in thermal management for spacecraft, familiarity with ANSYS or Thermal Desktop and SolidWorks, and a track record of building thermal models and

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Mechanical, Thermal, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or institution.
• 12 years of industry experience in thermal/mechanical design and analysis; MS may count as 2 years.
• Expertise in electronics/PCBA, box, and system-level thermal design and analysis.
• Proficiency in ANSYS or Thermal Desktop and SolidWorks; MCAD tools.
• Strong foundation in heat transfer and mechanical engineering.
• Experience radiative, conductive and convective heat transfer.
• Experience building thermal resistance networks and reduced order models.
• Experience correlating models with lab test results.
• Experience developing analysis automation tools (spreadsheet or script-based).
• Familiarity with thermal control system manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal designs from concept through requirements, detailed design, simulation, testing and qualification.
• Work with electrical and mechanical engineers on an integrated team to develop optimized solutions.
• Present design review materials to customers and upper management; contribute to proposals.
