Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs seeks a Senior Thermal Engineer to own end-to-end thermal CFD workflows for onboard payloads and cooling systems. You will drive rapid design iterations using first‑principles and high‑fidelity CFD, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and prototype teams in a marine‑grade environment.

The role requires strong experience in thermal engineering, GPU-accelerated CFD, and proficiency with STAR-CCM+, Fluent, and OpenFOAM.

Qualifications

• Strong background in thermal engineering, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or numerical simulation.
• Deep experience with thermal CFD for high‑power systems.
• Ability to translate heat loads into system‑level cooling requirements.
• Experience with full CFD workflow: geometry, meshing, boundary conditions, solver setup, post‑processing, validation.
• Hands‑on with major CFD tools (STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, HELYX/OpenFOAM).
• Experience with model fidelity, mesh sensitivity, turbulence models, and conjugate heat transfer.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end thermal simulation workflow for onboard payloads and cooling systems.
• Build fast, reliable CFD workflows to support rapid design iteration.
• Validate simulation results against prototype tests and field data.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and prototype teams to define interfaces and targets.
