Job summary

Invenergy, based in Chicago, seeks a Senior Staff Engineer, Thermal, to support geothermal and thermal project development across North America. You will lead design, permitting, and commissioning efforts, coordinating with vendors and consultants to deliver complex energy projects.

The role requires a strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and turbine performance, with 2+ years in capital project management and readiness to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical, electrical, civil, petroleum, chemical or related engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience in project engineering management of large capital projects with focus on geothermal or thermal power generation.
• Familiarity with regulatory, siting, and environmental permitting processes for large-scale projects.
• Knowledge of project design and configuration; subsurface energy translation into usable power is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review basic and detail design for power generation projects.
• Advise on feasibility of projects based on geothermal technologies and constraints.
• Lead technical efforts during development and collaborate with engineering teams.
• Review thermal heat balances and project design documents.
• Interface with vendors and OEMs to align technical requirements.
• Provide engineering oversight during design and construction.
• Coordinate with internal teams on procurement and contracts.
