Job summary

ON.energy in the Greater Denver area is seeking a Principal Test Engineer to lead end-to-end validation, de-risk product architectures, and orchestrate lab-based testing using HIL assets.

You will coordinate with investigators, facilities, and field teams; design test protocols, ensure safety compliance, and translate lab learnings into actionable recommendations for product and firmware development.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of electrical engineering experience in power systems and grid-tied technologies.
• B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Experience testing and modeling grid code compliance of large inverter-based resources; DOE/National Lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Test orchestration and planning with HIL assets to validate performance under extreme conditions.
• De-risking and technical validation through failure-mode discovery and data translation.
• Staff mentoring, SOP development, and coordination across facilities and project teams.
