Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Principal Test Engineer in the Greater Denver area with frequent travel to Houston, Texas. You will lead end-to-end lab-based validation, de-risking of power-system and grid-tied technologies, and coordination of commissioning and staff training.

The role requires deep expertise in electrical engineering, grid integration, and lab testing, with strong communication to researchers and field technicians. Expect travel and leadership across On Energy projects.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of electrical engineering experience in power systems and grid-tied technologies.
• B.S./M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Prior experience testing and modeling grid code compliance of large inverter-based resources.

Responsibilities

• Test orchestration and planning using laboratory HIL assets to validate performance under extreme conditions.
• De-risk and validate product hardware and software through lab experiments and data analysis.
• Coordinate commissioning, training, and staff rotation for field technicians at labs and sites.
