Job summary

Thea Energy Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Senior Test Engineer to lead verification and validation of superconducting magnets and related cryogenic systems. The role requires autonomy and coordination across test, manufacturing, mechanical, and physics teams.

You will develop validation milestones, oversee large cryogenic/high-power test stands, analyze data to de-risk designs, and manage vendor relationships while upholding strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• Hardware-centric test engineering in high-stakes environments (fusion, aerospace, superconducting magnets).
• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
• Proven track record of managing the verification and validation lifecycle for integrated systems.
• Mastery of LabVIEW and Python, with expertise in automating complex cryogenic and EM tests.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own test validation strategy for HTS magnets, cryogenic systems, and vacuum components.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and technicians, fostering data integrity and first-principles problem-solving.
• Oversee the design, build, and commissioning of large, custom cryogenic and high power test stands.
• Analyze complex datasets to troubleshoot system-level failure modes and inform next-gen stellarator design.
• Lead relationships with key vendors for specialized hardware and advanced test facilities, managing procurement contracts and external validation efforts.
• Establish and enforce rigorous safety protocols for high-voltage, high-field, and cryogenic environments, ensuring compliance with IEEE/ANSI/IEC.
