Job summary

Thea Energy seeks a Senior Test Technician to autonomously build, assemble, operate, and troubleshoot custom high-current, high-vacuum, and cryogenic test stands, validating superconducting magnets and other fusion hardware.

You will work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure data integrity, safety compliance, and continuous process improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a technical discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in shop fabrication, system assembly, hardware testing, or high-tech manufacturing environments.
• Experience building, operating, and troubleshooting at least two: superconducting magnets or fusion systems; high vacuum or ultra-high vacuum; cryogenic or fluid handling; high-power electrical/control systems.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and commission complex test articles and high-vacuum, cryogenic test equipment.
• Operate multi-day test systems and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, cryogenic, and vacuum fault modes with engineers.
• Develop new procedures, measurement methods, and tooling for novel tests to ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with test, magnet, manufacturing, electrical, and mechanical teams to define test scope and ensure successful results.
• Enforce safety protocols in high-current and cryogenic environments and maintain organized workspaces.
• Mentor technicians and engineers in shop practices, schematic reading, and safe testing.
