Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies in Hartford, CT seeks a results-driven territory manager to lead the Connecticut and Rhode Island markets. You will build and cultivate agency partnerships, expand submission activity, and drive profitable commercial P&C growth aligned to GUARD’s underwriting appetite.

You’ll travel frequently for in-person agency visits, review performance, and collaborate with underwriting and distribution leadership to set guidelines, pricing, and growth plans.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in territory management, production underwriting, or broker distribution.
• Experience growing a book of business through agency relationships.
• Knowledge of commercial P&C (Workers’ Comp, BOP, Auto, Umbrella).
• Familiarity with CT and RI market and agency environment.
• Experience using data and metrics to inform decisions.
• Clear and effective communication with agency partners and internal teams.
• Strong organizational skills and independent problem-solving in complex situations.

Responsibilities

• Increase written premium by expanding submission activity from agency partners.
• Build and maintain agency relationships through regular in-person meetings.
• Review agency performance and adjust territory approach based on results.
• Work with underwriting and distribution leadership to align on guidelines, pricing, and growth plans.
• Use data (agency performance, market trends, competitor activity) to determine where to focus time and effort.
• Follow a consistent sales process, tracking activity, pipeline, and results.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do

Own and grow the Connecticut and Rhode Island territory by building strong agency relationships and driving profitable commercial P&C business.

Salary Range

$105,000-$130,000USD + performance-based bonus potential and use of a company car

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, this range represents a good‑faith estimate. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
