Senior Telecommunication Technician
Cayce, SC
12 Months
Local candidates only

Daytime schedule Monday thru Friday, and On call. Upgrades and cutovers after hours as needed, based on project needs.

Must-Have Skills

1. SolarWinds – NPM and NCM
2. Experience with Nokia and Ciena transport equipment
3. Commissioning and troubleshooting DWDM systems

• Overtime is available as a function of the job, and overtime pay is provided when on call and have callouts, based on project needs.
• Candidates must have their own personal vehicle that’s suitable to drive in different areas.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
2. Ensure all work complies with telecommunications regulations and standards.
3. Provide technical support and guidance to users, often involving customer service during field visits.
4. Installing and wiring routers/switches, coordinating for configuration and troubleshooting.
5. Install and provision of transport equipment and ethernet services supporting MPLS network.
6. Electrical/Electronic background and SCADA knowledge are a plus.
7. Testing, deployment, and documentation supporting system upgrades, patches, and maintenance window activities.
8. Respond to system and service outages as well as storm/disaster support.
9. Participate in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms.
10. Effectively identify and utilize the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Work Environment

1. Exposure to cold, heat, loud noise, and energized wires up to 25%.
2. Outdoor work up to 25%.
3. Travel 51-75%.
4. Office work up to 25%.
5. May require some travel with overnight stays and additional hours, holiday, and/or weekend work for project completion or to meet deadlines - will be based on project needs.

Additional Skills

1. Working knowledge of fiber circuits, MPLS and other LAN/WAN data circuits.
2. Skilled in the termination and troubleshooting of various cabling types, including fiber.
3. Knowledge of fiber terminations, data circuits, 48V and 135Vdc power plants.
4. Experience with DC plant systems, LAN and wireless testing, fiber optic test equipment, and various cabling types.
5. Familiarity with cable identification, terminating cables, and Channel Banks.
6. Prioritize safety, environmental consciousness, and attention to detail.

Soft Skills

1. Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

3. Ability to keep work sites clean and organized.

Education and Certifications

1. High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
2. Associate degree and 3 years of related work experience or military experience with 5 years of related experience may be accepted.
