Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Senior Technology Engineer in the Applications Specialty (1043) to lead platform services, APIs, and integrations citywide. This permanent Civil Service role requires advanced technical expertise and the ability to guide others.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $159,120.00 to $200,226.00 and full-time hours. The SF Civil Service system emphasizes standards, policies, and security clearances for specialized roles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or closely-related field.
• Three (3) years of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining the components of a system or platform.
• One year of additional experience may substitute for the required degree.
• Completion of the 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may substitute for the required degree.
• Note: Any applicant who is not qualified may reapply after one month upon meeting minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Leads configuration, maintenance, and support of platform services, APIs, integration services, commercial software packages, and internally developed applications.
• Leads customization and addition of new features to platform services, packages, and system integrations according to end user requests.
• Maintains day-to-day operations of various platform services and applications.
• Designs and builds platform capabilities, API services, and applications based on customer requirements.
• Writes tests for applications, fixes problems, and assists with product launches.
• Provides technical support and helps troubleshoot problems related to platform services and applications.
• Writes technical documentation and uses best software development practices including version control and testing.
• Performs software upgrades and helps manage licensing.
• Assists with vendor relationships including scoping and review of deliverables.
