Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory in New York's Town of Niskayuna seeks an experienced engineering technologist for the Fluid Dynamics Experiments team. You will design and operate a wide range of thermal hydraulic and fluid flow experiments using advanced instrumentation and laser-based techniques.

Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is looking for an experienced engineering technologist to join the Fluid Dynamics Experiments team! In this role you'll work with engineers and technologists responsible for designing and executing a wide range of thermal hydraulic and fluid flow experiments that involve advanced instrumentation and measurements technologies. You'll use leading edge applications of optical and laser-based techniques. These experimental programs require the design, construction, and operation of one-of-a-kind test sections and supporting hardware. The selected candidate will be challenged to deliver creative, cost-effective solutions to enable timely execution of high importance experimental programs using current and next generation technologies.

Required Combination Of Knowledge And Skill

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Journeymans Papers in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Qualification as a Naval Nuclear Propulsion Operator (or commercial nuclear equivalent) and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

• Hands on test hardware assembly experience.
• Experience with hands-on test operations to execute advanced technology thermal hydraulic and fluid flow experiments.
• Experience with design, manufacture and maintenance support of test hardware and other laboratory equipment.
• Working knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
• Experience procuring test hardware.
• Demonstrated interest in developing and applying new technologies.

Pay Range

$78,700.00 - $120,500.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
